Box 1027 Rancho Cucamonga, California 91720 Subject: Proposed Swimming Pool Lot 21; Tract 13507-5 1 '500Celadon Court Chino Hills, California Gentlemen, Pursuant to your request I have inspected the subject site on July 29, 2019, and reviewed the pool plans by Swan Pools. The site is currently developed with a two-story single family residence. Surrounding lots in the general area have been developed with residential homes. The proposed pool is located on the nearly level pad off the rear side of the - house. An ascending slope exists off the rear sites of the pad area with a 2 1 horizontal to 1 vertical gradient and an estimated height of 10 feet. No slopes will affect ect1. the proposed pool. The pool excavation is expected to be into compacted fill reported in the original grading of the Tract. The Rough Grading Report by Pacific Soils Engineering, Inc dated July 24, 1990, was reviewed for soil parameters. Soils on the lot are reported to have a low to moderate expansion potential. RECOMMENDATIONS The following recommendations are intended to provide a safe design for the intended use. Soils on the site are silty sands with clay and have a medium expansion potential. A conventional pool design in accordance with the Code for expansive soils is recommended. Pool walls with a level backfill should be designed to resist lateral pressure equivalent to a fluid pressure of 45 pounds per cubic foot. Footings having a minimum embedment of 18 inches into firm soils may be designed for an allowable bearing pressure of 1500 pounds per square foot. 2 Resistance to horizontal forces on foundations may be provided by the combined effect of passive SUM pressures and frictional iclio nal resistance ice between concrete and firm soils. Lateral soil pressures of 250 pounds per square foot per foot of depth may be used to 1500 pounds per square foot. A coefficient of friction of 0.35 is recommended for the on-site soils. Decking slabs should have a minimum thickness of 4 inches and reinforced with 6 x 6 - W2.9 x W2.9 (6 x 6 - 6/6) welded wire mesh, or equivalent, placed at the center of the slab. A soil sample from the pool area was delivered to Anaheim Test Laboratory for analysis of sulfate contents. Test results enclosed indicate a negligible sulfate content at 0.013%. Sulfate resistant cement is not required for concrete or gunite. The pool excavation should be inspected prior to placement of reinforcement by a representative of the Soils Engineer to verify favorable soil conditions as reported. 3 a a The opportunity to be of service to you on this project is appreciated.
