PN-City Council - Ordinance Summary - Proposed Adoption - Lock-Off Utilities Remove Water Meter PUBLIC NOTICE OF PROPOSED ADOPTION OF CITY OF CHINO HILLS URGENCY ORDINANCE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on May 22,2018,the City Council of the City of Chino Hills will consider adoption of a proposed Urgency Ordinance entitled: AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHINO HILLS, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 15.04.040 OF THE CHINO HILLS MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND SECTION R111.3 OF THE 2016 CALIFORNIA RESIDENTIAL CODE AUTHORIZING THE BUILDING OFFICIAL TO DISCONNECT SERVICE UTILITIES AND REMOVE WATER METER IF VIOLATIONS EXIST RESULTING IN THE HEALTH AND SAFETY BEING ENDANGERED This proposed urgency ordinance amends section 15.04.040 of the Chino Hills Municipal Code ("CHMC") to amend section R111.3 of the 2016 California Residential Code authorizing the Building Official to disconnect service utilities if violations exist resulting in the health and safety being endangered. If the lock on a water meter is subsequently destroyed, then this ordinance will also authorize the Building Official to remove the water meter. This ordinance is proposed to be adopted immediately due to the recent increase within the City of houses with residential code violations that endanger health and safety due to the illegal interior cultivation of large numbers of marijuana plants.
