FOR ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES RELATED TO THE NEW GOVERNMENT CENTER PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: Authorize execution of Amendment No. 11 to Agreement No. A04-79 with LPA, Inc., in the amount of $21,750 to include design services for modifications to the Sheriff Locker Facility Revisions, City Hall Broadcast Room and the Council Chambers Community Room — part of ehe Government Center Project, bringing the total not-to-exceed amount of the agreement to 3,743,118. BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS: On October 12, 2004, the City Council authorized an agreement with LPA, Inc., for architectural services related to the Chino Hills Government Center. The initial contract was for master planning, facilities needs assessment, and other conceptual work. The contract was twice amended to include preliminary engineering for The Shoppes Residential site and for construction documents for Interim Sheriff Facilities, bringing the amended contract to $490,800. On October 4, 2005, the City Council authorized Amendment No. 3, bringing the amended contract to $3,089,153, for the preparation of construction documents, the construction contract and administration services for the Government Center and the FF& E design cost for fixtures, furniture and equipment for the Sheriff Station, the City Hall and the Library building. Since that time, the City Council has authorized seven (7) additional amendments to address numerous changes to the overall design to better accommodate the City, Library, San Bernardino County Sheriff and the Fire District. FOR ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES RELATED TO THE NEW GOVERNMENT CENTER PROJECT Staff is asking the City Council to approve Amendment No. 11, which addresses four (4) separate recommended modifications to the design based on detailed review of specific areas of the project with City and user staff. 1. To.better serve the function of the Sheriffs Facility, City staff and sheriff personal have identified modifications needed to the Sheriff locker rooms resulting in an expected construction savings of$3,000. There are, however, several changes to the design documents. There is a redesign cost of$3,935. 2. To reduce overall cost, staff recommends that the City Hall fountain design be modified, reducing construction costs by an estimated $50,000. Some additional design cost is associated with this proposed modification. There is a redesign cost of $3,115. 3. Based on final equipment selected for the City Hall Broadcast Room, the room configuration and electrical and mechanical services in the room will need to be modified. The modifications require changes to architectural, structural, mechanical, 41110 plumbing and electrical documentations to as well as issuance of new drawing for City plan check. There is an expected additional construction cost of $43,000. The redesign cost is $7,000. 4. To allow for additional seating and better serve the dual function of the City Council Chamber and the Community Room, Staff is recommending that the current glass partition be replaced with an operable wood/glass partition. There is an expected construction cost of $45,000. The redesign cost is $7,700. A04-79 FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR CIVIC IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CHINO HILLS GOVERNMENT CENTER THIS AMENDMENT NO. 11 to Agreement No. A04-79 dated June 10, 2008, is entered into in the State of California by and between the City of Chino Hills, a California general law municipal corporation, hereinafter called "City," and LPA, Inc., hereinafter called "Consultant." It is hereby agreed to be amended as follows: 1. LPA PSA 15A— Revisions to City Hall Fountain $ 3,115.00 2. LPA PSA 15B— Revision to Sheriff Locker Room $ 3,935.00 3. LPA PSA 17 - City Hall Broadcast Room Revisions $ 7,000.00 4.
