Welch, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors 385 North Arrowhead Avenue, Second Floor San Bernardino, CA 9241 5-0130 RE: Letter of Interest and Statement of Qualifications for San Bernardino County CAL-ID Remote Access Network Board Seat Dear Ms. Welch: It is with great pleasure that I respectfully submit my letter of interest and statement of qualifications to fill the unexpired seat on the San Bernardino County CAL-1D Remote Access Network Board. I have served the Rancho Cucamonga community with distinction for over 35 years. Recently, I was elected in 2010 to be the Mayor of the City of Rancho Cucamonga. In addition, rain currently serving on the League of California Cities Board of Directors and as President of the Inland Empire Division of the League of California Cities. I was first elected to the City Council in 2004, and later reelected in 2008. Prior to that time I proudly served the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District for 27 years before retiring in 2003. During my tenure with the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Protection District I served as an Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief and for the last 19 years of my career as Fire Chief. During my tenure as Fire Chief, I was very active in a variety of public safety related boards and commissions including the State Board of Fire Services, the California Fire Chiefs Association, the San Bernardino County Emergency Medical Care Committee, the West End Communications authority, the Fire District Association of California and the San Bernardino County Fire Chiefs Association. That breadth and depth of experience has given me a strong regional perspective on important public safety issues which I believe would also be an asset on the San Bernardino County CAL-ID Remote Access Network Board. Further, as Mayor of one of the largest contract agencies for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's department, I am familiar with the importance of the automated fingerprint and DNA analyses policies and programs that the Board provides direction for to all of our communities in San Bernardino County. In conclusion, I believe my past and current experience would be a positive contribution to the San Bernardino County CAL-1D Remote Access Network Board and 1 welcome the opportunity to be considered for this position. I thank you for your consideration in this matter, Sincerely, L.
